Let’s begin.

Where is Reunion Located?

Reunion is located on Playa Pan de Azúcar (Sugar Beach) on the Northern Pacific Coast of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It is situated approximately one hour away from Liberia International Airport. The retreat center is just a few steps from the secluded Sugar Beach and is close to one of the world's five Blue Zones, the Nicoya Peninsula. The area provides a unique blend of biodiversity, high levels of oxygen, and a strong sense of community, making it an ideal setting for holistic well-being.

Nestled amidst lush foliage, a large ceramic buddha sits gracefully along a coastline. At a Reunion retreat, guests can expect tenacious commitment to our three safety pillars, which ensures a safe ayahuasca retreat.

Is it safe to travel to a reunion retreat alone?

One of the most common questions we receive from guests is whether traveling to Reunion alone is safe. The answer is simple: yes.

Embarking on a Reunion retreat alone is absolutely safe. It’s also highly enriching, thanks to Reunion’s strong community, trained facilitators, and experienced contributors integral to the design. The center attracts a tapestry of like-minded individuals, with about 60% traveling alone from various corners of the globe—predominantly the United States and Canada, but also Europe and Australia.

The sense of community fostered by group movement classes, meals, plant medicine journeys, and integration sharing circles means guests never feel out of place. Many solo travelers have such a fantastic experience they often plan to return, next time bringing their family or friends. The emphasis on emotional and physical safety guarantees a nurturing and secure experience.

What Safety Protocols Are In Place?

At a Reunion retreat, guests can expect unparalleled commitment to three safety pillars.

Physical Safety

Costa Rica is the safest country in Latin America, according to the latest Global Peace Index. Still, Reunion takes nothing for granted. The Sugar Beach plant medicine center elevates physical safety by providing a gated property bolstered by a 24-hour Safety & Security team.

Medical Safety

Medical safety is another cornerstone at Reunion. The retreat features a licensed on-site Medical Clinic staffed by qualified healthcare professionals. Guests undergo an initial medical Intake assessment along with another health check before their first plant medicine ceremony and receive any additional medical support throughout their stay, if necessary.

Reunion is located within 30 minutes of additional medical amenities.

Emotional Safety

Reunion crafts an emotional safety net through its trauma-informed, non-judgmental approach to personal growth and healing. Guests can expect confidential and compassionate support, creating an inclusive space for transformative experiences. Those who may need additional support can also meet with one of Reunion’s psychotherapists.

What Plant Medicines Does Reunion Offer?

Reunion’s plant medicine healing center offers both Ayahuasca and Psilocybin retreats. Each retreat includes either three (Psilocybin) or four (Ayahuasca) ceremonies throughout the week.

The Reunion Experience (Ayahuasca Retreat)

The Reunion Experience retreat honors Ayahuasca and the scores of indigenous communities who hold the plant’s sacred wisdom. Upper Amazonian tribes have used the divine brew for centuries, including Peru’s Shipibo, Mestizo, and Q’ero traditions and Brazil’s Huni Kuin, Santo Daime, and União do Vegetal.

Reunion’s plant medicine ceremonies incorporate several cultural elements, including icaros or Shipibo chants and evening-only journeys in its temple (maloka).

Inner Alchemy (Psilocybin Retreat)

Psilocybin mushroom wisdom doesn’t trace to specific lineages like Ayahuasca. Mushrooms have grown all over the earth since the dawn of time, and various cultures have experimented with their healing powers.

Still, Reunion’s mushroom retreat celebrates South American mushroom traditions, including spiritual and shamanic practices passed down through generations. Additionally, facilitators employ their own methods, led by decades of combined experience guiding guests through profound transformations.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A REUNION RETREAT?

Preparing for a plant medicine experience like a mushroom or ayahuasca retreat involves nutrition, intention-setting, breathwork, and education.

MEALS

Guests should choose a clean diet, prioritizing vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. While there's leniency in what you consume, healthier food choices prepare the body for a more enriching experience.

BREATHWORK

Conscious breathing practices are excellent tools to prepare guests for mind-opening plant medicine experiences. These exercises help in grounding energies and enhancing focus.

EDUCATION

Guests may want to acquaint themselves with what to expect during a plant medicine ceremony. Understanding the nature of Ayahuasca and Psilocybin, and their potential effects provides a mental framework during the experience.

INTENTION SETTING

Reunion always recommends guests take time to set intentions before an Ayahuasca or Psilocybin retreat. Writing down hopes and aspirations can serve as a guiding force during plant medicine ceremonies. Still, guests must remain flexible and open to what the medicine reveals.
